As I continue working at my final product, I began to connect the majority of my research all into one word tat defines the goal of my project; Pedagogy. Pedagogy is defined as, the method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept. As I connected this, I found multiple sources that I could refer to. My favorite was an article that went into detail about how teachers could reach beyond their curriculum and use their methods of teaching to highly resonate with students and their ability to learn. It was called "5 effective steps of Pedagogy": https://www.tolerance.org/professional-development/five-standards-of-effective-pedagogy
The 5 steps described are
1. Joint Productive Activity- Teacher and Students producing together
2. Language Development- Developing language across the curriculum
3. Contextualization- Connecting school to students lives
4. Challenging activities-Teaching complex thinking
5. Instructional Conversation-Teaching through conversation
I find these all very important in the way school should be taught. I think this is the easiest way to describe what I have been trying to incorporate in our high school, environment. Also, I think this will be easier to process for teachers because pedagogy is common jargon in the understanding of teachers.
